Under a masterful ride from jockey Jose Ortiz, McKee's Stable's 3 year old Gelding -
EDEN RIDGE, came away with a hard fought win in Wednesday 8th race at the Big A.
Settling into the 3rd spot from the break, behind dueling leaders including the heavy favorite; Jose Ortiz relaxed Eden Ridge and bide his time. Under steady urging, as the field entered the stretch, the son of sire "Lookin at Lucky" swung 4-wide and reeled in the leaders.
Once in command, Eden had to hold off a stampede of late closers, most of which appeared poised to win themselves. Eden showed true heart however and dug in when tested as he started inching away late to cross the wire a length and 3/4 the best.
Congratulations to McKee Stables on an exciting win and to the entire team at Carlos Martin Racing, especially Eden's groom - Manuel Herrera - on his great dedication to all the horses in his care.
