MORNING BREEZ MAKES IT LOOK EASY!

In the paddock for Friday's 5th Race at Belmont Park, Morning Breez looked every bit the part of a horse who had seen it and done it all before. As he calmly stood, while Carlos made the final check of the 2 yr. old colt's saddle, Morning Breez casually looked around at another young first-timer making a ruckus.
He appeared highly uninterested in the commotion as he was led out of his stall into the walking ring by longtime Martin Racing Groom extraordinaire, Macario Bravo. As he awaited his rider, the well-built son of Morning Line out of Carson City Mare, Tico Breeze, seemed to be walking with a purpose. He was definitely stepping lively but had not broken out in a nervous sweat as many other competitors had done already on this muggy New York Summer day. He was calm, cool and collected and would display that same professional demeanor during his first live racing contest.
Under jockey Rosario Montanez, Morning Breez broke sharp among the field of 9 other runners, and immediately took a forward position - in 3rd place, just a few lengths behind front runners, longshot Scientist Kat and well-backed Collective Effort.
After a spiritedly quick 22.3 opening quarter, Morning Breez appeared to be well in hand and poised to strike at the dueling leaders. On the far turn , Montanez said "go" and Morning Breez responded as he immediately kicked into another gear and ranged up on the outside of Collective Effort, matching that one stride for stride as they reached the top of the stretch. From here on in, the race was effectively over as Morning Breez lengthened his stride and accelerated away from any would be challengers, crossing the line by a widening 4 1/4 lengths clear.
It was an impressive debut and hopefully a sign of many future victories. Martin Racing Stables would like to congratulate owners, John Caputo and Lady Delpo and The Boys Racing on an exciting win and thank them for their support!
Congratulations to jockey Rosario Montanez on an excellent and patient ride and of course our trainer and fearless leader, Carlos Martin, for all his never-ending hard work, and tireless dedication to his clients and all the horses under his care.
