On Wednesday at the Spa, Blue Devil Racing's Come Dancing made her long-awaited return to the track under Irad Ortiz Jr. for trainer Carlos Martin & client Marc Holliday. Coming off an extended 7-month layoff, the imposing & massively built 4-year old daughter of Malibu Moon broke out of the gate eagerly and quickly took up a forward position, 3-wide alongside the favorite & second choice among the field of 6 runners.
Under a hard hold through the half-mile mark, all three leaders looked game but it was Come Dancing that looked the least hurried as she effortlessly cruised to the top of the stretch. As they turned for home, Irad let loose a notch on the reins and Come Dancing responded. She hit another gear while seizing the lone leader spot. extending her advantage with every stride. As she crossed the wire, Come Dancing was a widening four and a half in front as Irad eased her into an open gallop.
